The actual gameplay was enjoyable and there was a huge amount of customization you can do to Victor. Now this may seem like I hated the game but I didn’t. Basically don’t travel from the hub to an area without the free time to beat that whole area which I don’t enjoy. So the game auto saves during a level but if you have to exit the level and come back due to work, school, etc then when you reload the game all of the enemies, including bosses, are alive again and back where they were. You beat a boss only to have them come back to life and have to be beaten again, enemies who can continue to spawn multiple enemies, bosses with regen health, oh this game has all of those and some have more than one of these crappy mechanics. The game also incorporated many game mechanics I despise. There were times on casual difficulty where a few enemies were killing me within 3-5 seconds from full health where on normal difficulty many mini bosses were cut through like butter. The game was either insanely difficult or insanely easy all the way through. Maria Teresa Creasey and Deborah Mock who voiced Queen Katerina and Irene both did a terrible job though. The voice that is in Victor’s head for the journey is also well done and has some nice comic relief. I instantly noticed the voice of Vran was done by the same man who voices Geralt on The Witcher: Doug Cockle. The voice acting was a mixed bag just like rest. Overall the game does many things really well and many things very poorly. The honeymoon slowly ended though and by halfway through the game I was starting to notice things I didn’t like and then by the end I was just hoping to finish the game and be done with it. I started off really enjoying Victor Vran. Feels a solid well made game though.By shylocksimmonz | Review Date: October 21, 2019 Did pick it up in a sale a couple of weeks ago though. 70 minutes in and no complaints whatsoever so far. Would agree with the Gauntlet comment (am old enough to remember the 2D original), has Devil May Cry vibes in terms of look and control, but an RPG kind of feel. you didn't pick up the Golden Skull of whatever and stick 2 x blue gems in it and hence insta kill from projectiles etc). Would agree - liked Torchlight but this isn't a build game (but it has a similar kind of feel to that but less reliant on random builds and object, e.g. I feel like it's a more arcady version : kinda like Gauntlet. Build making is minimal, you probably won't play endless hours replaying and farming, but it's fun for what it is. It's like a more actiony less buildy version of those types of games. Originally posted by dyne2alex:I personally feel like it's worth getting and playing with the sale, but you should probably keep in mind that it's not really similar to those other games much. It just seems like I might eventually put it on my "favorite games" list. Again, I haven't played this game enough to be sure if I like it as much as those other games that I have played. I can say that, so far, the game seems almost as enjoyable as Van Helsing or Two Worlds (Epic Edition) or Sacred Gold or Torchlight 2 or Diablo 3. I have never played Grim Dawn (encountered too many nasty Grim Dawn people on Discussion pages of other games, so decided I don't want to expose myself to that real-people social environment, if the game attracts that type - whether on the game or in the Discussion pages). The game uses cards that can be added and removed at will to enhance your abilities. On this game, there are different maps that you port into to complete quests, or complete challenges. I liked the old version so I got the new version, and I can't quite figure out why I always fall asleep playing it. Lol, another person who falls asleep playing the newest version of Titan Quest. I could clearly see where every path led. Since they were so low, it wasn't hard to navigate them, either. There are some areas on the map where low hedges are arranged in a maze formation, but I think I was able to jump over them. I haven't had a chance to complete the game yet, but I have enjoyed it so far.
